The Battle for the BEST Fish N’ Chips
When I was in Freo, I’ve heard about these two restaurants battling to have the best Fish and Chips in town. Kaili’s and Cicerello’s. They’re both located at the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour.
So on my very first night, I decided to go to Kaili’s to try theirs first. My friend suggested it was the best so I guess that’s why it has to be the first one.
So being used to small servings in Filipino restaurants, when I was asked how many fillets did I want, I said two. I paid $17 for their traditional fish and chips and waited a few minutes before my number started buzzing.
Headed out to the counter to collect and I was like… “How am I supposed to eat all these?” Of course I only said it to myself! Haha.
Then the next day, I went to Cicerello’s to try their version of the dish.
Obviously, Kaili’s Fish N Chips has more color to it. Plus they gave a packet of Tartar sauce to go with the fish. Cicerello’s dish is kind of pale but the taste is there. At first, I liked Cicerello’s more. But it’s probably because I was able to put lemon and salt on my fish at this place.
So after a few days, I went back to Kaili’s and try it one more time with it’s Chicken Salt and some lemon. And I gotta say.. I kinda agree with my friend. Though it’s pretty close, Kaili’s Fish and Chips tasted a little bit better than Cicerello’s.
But just out of curiosity, before I left Freo, I went to try another one just from the Fremantle Market, and it’s actually not bad. Not to mention it’s only $11. Looks better too.
It’s only been 10 days since I got back from Australia, and I already miss it. I miss walking out from my hostel, in a pretty cool weather, heading to the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour to get some tasty Fish N Chips.
